The Continental Breakfast Club series by Pamela Ford "Over Easy" Review

Over Easy:

Allie Parker's had enough. Just because she's a dog groomer, her overachieving family of doctors and lawyers treats her like a child. She's convinced that a successful husband is all she needs to change their attitudes. So when she and her friends come up with a brilliant new way to meet eligible men, Allie squeezes into her sister's stylish clothes and sneaks into continental breakfast at an upscale hotel to find herself the perfect guy.

Before Allie has taken her last bite of syrup-laden waffle, she's met the man of her dreams. But what she doesn't know is that he's a jewel thief who mistakenly thinks she's his contact—and so does everyone else who's after his stash of diamonds.

Suddenly Allie's world is crazily upended. And as she scrambles to prove her innocence and get back to her old life, she discovers happily ever after sneaks up when you least expect it.

Pamela Ford is the award-winning author of contemporary and historical romance. She grew up
watching old movies, blissfully sighing over the romance; and reading sci-fi and adventure novels, vicariously living the action. The combination probably explains why the books she writes are romantic, happily-ever-afters with plenty of plot - and often lots of laughter.

After graduating from college with a degree in Advertising, Pam merrily set off to earn a living, searching for that perfect career as she became a graphic designer, print buyer, pantyhose sales rep, public relations specialist, copywriter, freelance writer - and finally author. Pam has won numerous awards including the Booksellers Best, the Laurel Wreath, and a gold medal IPPY in the Independent Book Publisher Awards. She is a Kindle Book Awards finalist and a two-time Golden Heart Finalist. She lives in Wisconsin where she is working on her next novel.

How did you do research for your book?
All the books in The Continental Breakfast Club are sort of rollicking, madcap adventures. Between growing up laughing with a close group of girlfriends, and raising three daughters who are much the same, I didn’t have to do too much research to write these books! Do you have another profession besides writing books? I was an advertising copywriter for many years, then left that to work for myself as a freelance copywriter and author. Writing books has gradually taken up more and more of my time, although I still take on an occasional freelance project. What genre do you write and why? I write contemporary romance, romantic comedy, and historical romance because that’s what I like to read. But I also like to read young adult and Dystopian world fiction so who knows what I may write someday! Is there a specific, ritualistic thing you do during your writing time? Our dog died two years ago, and for a variety of reasons we haven’t gotten a new dog yet. So, sometimes I go over and get the neighbor’s dog and bring her to my house to hang out with me while I write, so we both have someone to keep us company. (The neighbors are both at work and happy to have me do it!) What do you think makes a good story? A character you can relate to, one that you want to root for. And a plot that keeps that character dancing on the edge of trouble. What’s your favorite dessert? Hands down, pumpkin pie. Second place goes to French silk pie. And then there’s banana cream pie. . .

We have heard this before- a big family event is coming and to show up without a date would make one look like a loser, or in this case, like the baby of the family who would never amount to anything of value. Fortunately for Allie, she has two intelligent, single female friends also eager to find male companionship willing to try crazy schemes with her. Over Easy is the first in a series of novels about these three friends and how their choices lead to adventures no one sees coming. After they fail to find suitable, single men at the gym, Meg comes up with a plan to meet successful businessmen. Allie thinks that is exactly what she has fond until she is ditched on her first date, left "holding the bag." It turns out her date is not the only one who is not who he pretends to be, or who Allie wishes him to be. This very bad date turns into a rollicking adventure Allie is not sure she will survive. At least she has her excellent friends by her side. Full of humor and witty banter, breath stopping moments and lots of confusion, Over Easy is a fast paced escape novel about friendship and growing up. I can't wait to read more by Pamela Ford. This would make a fun Hallmark Channel series. I was provided with this book for review purposes.

  2. I would like to get back to reading novels,it seems the internet and social media has taken over My time from reading novels.I use to read constantly.I loved stories and books.I've tried over and over to get back to them but now I always stop reading after the first several pages.I can't figure it out. Novels are over for Me?It's so weird.Maybe if I had no computer books would come alive for Me again.I'll keep trying and looking for the perfect read to come back to-Denise

  4. I read recently that high school kids' attention spans are down to 3 minutes. Maybe with all the action online, we're all conditioning our brains never to be still. :(
